Antonio Pulgarin, who studied at Kingsborough in 2008-2009, recently had his work on view at the Kingsborough Art Museum (KAM). His exhibition Here I Stand, Like the Sun that Frightens the Cold, featured seventeen photo-collage works that address issues of gender, sexual orientation, nationalism, and the constructions of masculinity. During the run of the show he was featured in The Advocate, as well was the subject of an in-depth interview on The Visura Media Blog. Pulgarin also gave an Artist’s Talk on December 3, 2019 at the Kingsborough Art Museum.
Over the summer current Fine Arts student Alexander Reynoso was commissioned to create a yarnbombing project on four trees outside the LBGT Center in Manhattan. The colorful yarn wrappings represent varieties of the Pride flag, and were a part of the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. Professor Janice Farley recently had her essay, “Pilgrimage as Empowerment: Women Trailblazers,” published in the book Peace Journeys: A New Direction in Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage Research (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2020).

Photography Professor Tommy Mintz recently presented his work at Maker Faire Rochester. His exhibition Tommy Mintz: Algorithmic Allegories was shown at Buckham Gallery in Flint, Michigan (November 8-December 7, 2019); he gave an Artist Talk there on November 8. One of his photographs appeared in the online and print editions of The New York Times
