Welcome To the Men’s Resource Center!

The Men’s Resource Center is Kingsborough Community College’s mentoring and leadership program. We strive to cultivate a spirit of academic excellence as well as a cultivate a sense belonging. We provide a safe space for students to engaging in their academic pursuits, obtain a mentor, and join a community of like-minded individuals. So, if you need someone to talk to, to help you figure out the next steps in order to achieve your goals, to help you understand and process decisions you've made, we are here to help.

The Men’s Resource Center provides students on campus a place to gather, socialize, network and examine the transitioning lifestyles that will allow them to develop to their fullest potential. Its services include mentoring, special programs, projects, seminars and workshops, peer support groups, resources, and consultations with academic departments, organizations.

Office Hours (Fall and Spring semesters): Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm

Goals:

Through our on-going services we encourage retention and academic success for men and non-traditional students by providing specialized support programs and referrals to community resources for identifiable populations including re-entry, low-income and special services. We help our students identify and foster an awareness of the possibilities for academic success and positive personal development.

Services:

The Men’s Resource Center offers support and services to those students encountering life transitions, including:

  • Confidential individual mentorship
  • Special programs, projects and seminars
  • Discussions on current events
  • Men’s support group
  • Referrals to community resources
  • Open house for all students each semester
  • Information about various issues

Programs:

Throughout the year, we partner with academic departments, programs, and clubs to co-sponsor lectures, workshops, seminars, and peer support groups concerning issues important to women and non-traditional students, for example:

  • Personal Development workshops
  • Assertiveness and leadership training
  • Financial planning and budgeting
  • Health and wellness
  • Stress and time management
