Mission Statement

The mission of the College Discovery Program is to dismantle the barriers to access and completion for under-served students with defined educational and economic needs. College discovery stimulates and supports the intellectual, personal, and professional growth of students through college orientation, one-on-one advisement, supplemental instruction, and financial support. Program efforts are intended to close existing gaps, achieve equity, and increase the level of education, social capital, and workforce experience in our region.

Program Benefits

As a College Discovery Student, you will receive the following benefits:

Financial $upport
    • Help you complete FAFSA and TAP (If eligible you will be able to attend KCC Tuition Free)
    • A $500 stipend each semester for school-related expenses (MetroCard, food, books, etc.…)
    • Extra year of Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
    • KCC Student Activity Fee will be fully covered by CD ($101/semester)
    • Attend select Bachelor’s and Master’s program TUITION-FREE*
Academic

A team of experienced and dedicated advisors who will help you with

    • Class Registration
    • Career Exploration
    •  Staying on track for graduation
    •  Transferring Process (SEEK, EOP, HEOP)
Eligibility

You are eligible for College Discovery Program if you:

    • Are entering college for the first time as an incoming freshman for the Fall semester
    •  Are a legal resident of New York City for at least a year before entering college
    • Are a high school graduate or have completed TASC/GED
    • Are academically qualified
    • Have completed FAFSA and TAP applications
    • Have a gross family income that meets the New York State guidelines (see chart)
