Tobacco-Free Advisory Policy

Kingsborough is smoke-free and tobacco-free!

Kingsborough Community College complies with a policy, enacted by the Board of Trustees of the City University of New York, prohibiting the use of tobacco on all grounds and facilities under CUNY jurisdiction, including indoor locations and outdoor locations such as playing fields; entrances and exits to buildings; and parking lots.  This policy applies to all tobacco and tobacco products including chewing tobacco and e-cigarettes.  Tobacco industry promotions, advertising, marketing, and distribution of marketing materials on campus and tobacco industry sponsorship of athletic events and athletes are also prohibited.  This policy has made CUNY the largest smoke-free university system in the United States.

In connection with this policy, Kingsborough fosters educational programming and encourages the participation of both students and employees in smoking cessation programs on campus.  The cooperation of both smokers and non-smokers is essential to the success of this policy. All members of the college community are requested to remind individuals, including visitors, to adhere to this policy.  If necessary, any member of the campus community may bring instances of noncompliance to the attention of the Office of Public Safety, the Office of Human Resources, or the Office of the Dean of Students, as appropriate.
