Chanel Bishop

Assistant Dean of Advisement

Chanel Bishop, a Chicago native, has joined Kingsborough Community College’s academic affairs department as our new assistant dean of advisement. The first-generation college graduate is passionate about helping students navigate higher education. She previously served as associate dean of student services and transfer center director for the City Colleges of Chicago, an advisor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a career development counselor for a non-profit organization in Chicago. She will oversee Kingsborough's advisement areas, specifically the advising academies, ASAP (Accelerated Study in Associate Programs) and transfer. Chanel holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana, master's degrees from DePaul University and Roosevelt University, and a doctorate from Benedictine University. She spends her free time chasing after her 4-year-old twins and traveling with her family.

Latasha Collins

Director | KCC's Child Development Center

Brooklynite Latasha Collins has taken on the role of director at KCC’s Child Development Center, dedicated to supporting student-parents. A certified teacher for children from birth to second grade, she holds a master's degree in early childhood education from Brooklyn College. Latasha brings extensive experience, including teaching music and movement at Brooklyn Landmark Elementary School, and is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. Her vision as director is to provide children with high-quality learning experiences, continuing the center's legacy and promoting a positive academic future.

Lisa Khandhar

Chief Diversity Officer

Lisa Khandhar is the new chief diversity officer and 504/ADA coordinator at Kingsborough Community College. She has a juris doctor degree from NYU School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from SUNY/Binghamton University. With 18 years of legal experience, she has worked for an international law firm, the New York City Department of Education, and the Maldives Mission to the United Nations, focusing on human rights issues. Her most recent role was with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, where she investigated discrimination complaints in schools and colleges. Lisa is dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion at KCC and is keen on creating a space where diverse voices are valued. Outside of work, she enjoys crochet, musical theater, and is a proud finisher of the NYC Marathon. Lisa looks forward to connecting and collaborating with the KCC community.

Alyssa Meyers

Senior CLT | Culinary Arts

Alyssa Meyers, a proud Staten Island native, is KCC's new Culinary Arts senior college lab technician (CLT) for the Tourism and Hospitality department. She manages the program's kitchens and a team of 10 CLTs, drawing from her background in events and hospitality. Alyssa is a first-generation college graduate with a diverse educational journey, and she owns a catering company specializing in Caribbean and Central American cuisine. She's passionate about hospitality and aspires to research traditional Central American cooking methods. In her free time, she enjoys a friendly game of Hold’em poker and contributes to local feeding programs. Alyssa is eager to explore KCC's farm program and kitchens.
