Office of Institutional Effectiveness
Academic Momentum
For the past decade, KCC has redoubled its efforts to strive for equitable outcomes for all students. The College’s Mission Statement and Strategic Plan highlight the value it places on equity, and whenever possible our institutional data are disaggregated by race, ethnicity, gender, age, and financial aid status.
We actively examine existing equity gaps, and have exerted considerable effort to design programs, interventions, and supports that narrow or close those gaps. This work has followed the Loss/Momentum Framework, which identifies four critical stages in students’ relationships with the college: Connection, Entry, Progress, and Completion. Within this framework, KCC addresses recruitment and enrollment, access to courses of study, success in coursework, persistence in college, and graduation with an academic credential. This is typified by disaggregating course enrollment and passing rates by these dimensions.
We have also set out to include goals addressing equity for each AES unit so that assessment activities will be geared towards promoting equity as well.
