Assessment Week
March 20-24, 2023
Please join us for Assessment Week (March 20-24), a week of events designed to highlight and share our QUEST for success (Ensuring Quality of our work, Understanding the faculty, staff, students, and community we serve, striving for Equity in our work, Sharing the results of our assessments, and fostering Transparency).
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and the Office of Academic Affairs have teamed up to put together a series of four events, each focusing on a different type of assessment happening in the College. Over the course of the week you will have the opportunity to hear from faculty and staff about how they use assessment to ensure that students are receiving a quality general education; measure how well our students are doing; and better understand the experiences of students, faculty, and staff.
We have four events planned for this week, each one with a specific focus.
Please note that registration is required to attend the Zoom sessions (the General Education Forum and the Faculty and Staff Satisfaction Survey Review), and encouraged for the in-person sessions.
Student Success Summit: Tuesday March 21 from 3-4:30pm.
Location: U219/220.
Single mothers make up an increasing part of the postsecondary student population in the United States. Their educational success has the potential to reap intergenerational benefits, forging a path for economic mobility and success for their families. Kingsborough was one of eight community colleges nationally that was selected to participate in in College Success for Single Mothers, a three-year project (2020-2022) of the National College Transition Network (NCTN) funded by ECMC Foundation.

Are you a single parent, or do you know any single parents, who could use some support? This page contains a whole list of resources available to single parents, and a form to complete to be connected to someone who can provide additional support. Please share with anyone who may benefit from these services!
General Education Forum: Wednesday, March 22 from 3-4pm.
Location: ZOOM.
This session will focus on assessment of General Education at KCC. We'll start with an update on Year 2 of our Gen Ed Assessment plan and then share the findings and takeaways from our first Civic Engagement Assessment Day(s), which took place March 1-2. We encourage all faculty who are teaching (or interested in) Pathways or Civic Engagement courses to join in on the presentation and subsequent discussion.

AES Assessment Data Blitz: Thursday March 23 from 12-1pm.
Location: U219/220 .
Not wanting to let academic assessment have all the fun, the AES Assessment Data Blitz will give Academic, Educational, and Support (AES) units a chance to talk about how they collect and use data to drive their work. Each presenter will give a quick (~5 minute) overview of an assessment project in their area, then have a facilitated group discussion about their experiences with using data. We encourage all staff faculty members who are interested in knowing how units across the College evaluate how we can best support students, faculty, and staff inside and outside the classroom.

Faculty and Staff Satisfaction Survey Review: Friday March 24 from 11am-12pm.
Location: ZOOM.
We will close out Assessment Week with a review of the 2002 Faculty and Staff Satisfaction Survey results and the suggested next steps from the Faculty and Staff Satisfaction Survey Committee. Please join for a thorough discussion and opportunity to share your input on next steps.
