Culinary Arts Program

The Culinary Arts program at Kingsborough Community College has a comprehensive training program designed for successful entry into the creative, high-paced workplaces of the food industry. Two programs to set you on your career path are offered:

  • Certificate in Culinary Arts —a one-year certificate designed for students who wish not to pursue a degree, but still wish to learn hands-on culinary skills.

Immerse Yourself in Hands-On Learning

  • With four learning kitchens on campus, you’ll get the technical training and hands-on experience needed for successful entry into the food industry.
  • State-of-the-art facilities with industry-standard equipment.
  • Learn both front of the house and back of the house skills in our on-campus restaurant.

Train With Top Chefs

  • Our highly-qualified and experienced Chef Instructors have dozens of years of experience in the culinary industry and are committed to sharing their knowledge and expertise with you.

Master an Array of Skills and Techniques

  • Learn a variety of basic and advanced culinary and baking skills and techniques.
  • Learn management tools and skills, including menu and recipe development and food costing.  

Boost Your Workplace Value

  • Networking and volunteer opportunities throughout your time within the Program.
  • Earn industry certifications, including:
    1. National Restaurant Association (ServSafe & ServSafe Alcohol)
    2. American Culinary Federation (Certified Culinarian)
    3. NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene (NYC Food Protection Certificate)

Transfer and Internship Opportunities

  • Be well prepared to successfully enter the workforce as a trained professional upon graduation.
  • Internship experiences at top restaurants, hotels, bakeries, catering establishments, and other food-based businesses.
