Directions for Applying for Clinical Nursing Spring 2025

 

 

Clinical applications open September 5, 2024  
and will close on November 18, 2024

You are ONLY eligible to apply for Clinical Nursing if you have completed or will complete the Pre-Clinical course sequence (ENG 1200, PSY 1100, BIO 1100 and SCI 2500) by the end of the Fall 2024 semester (this does not include the Fall 2024 -Session B- Winter 2025 semester).

A student who is on academic probation, withdrew while failing or has been administratively dismissed from a nursing program at a previous institution is not eligible for admission to the KCC Nursing Program. If you have attended a previous clinical nursing program and left in good academic standing, you must submit the CERTIFICATION OF WITHDRAWAL FROM A NURSING PROGRAM IN GOOD ACADEMIC STANDING FORM.

YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO TAKE THE TEAS EXAM ONCE DURING THE FALL TESTING PERIOD ( NOVEMBER 18 - DECEMBER 18, 2024 ).

The exam will be given virtually or at an ATI testing site from November 18 through December 18, 2024. You must register for a date during that time period. No other testing date scores will be accepted for your Spring 2025 application.

New Nursing Admission Eligibility Requirements

To be admitted or advanced into an NYSED-approved nursing program in Spring 2024, students must provide documentation for one of the categories listed in the attached policy. Namely, Applicants may demonstrate eligibility through documents that verify that they meet the required criteria.

The most common documents include:

    • Proof of U.S. citizenship through a birth certificate, U.S. passport, naturalization certificate, or certificate of citizenship.
    • Proof of legal permanent resident status with what is known as a “Green Card”.
    • Proof of various eligible categories, listed below, generally through an employment authorization document (EAD) or other satisfactory documentation.
    Eligible immigration categories:
    1. International student with F-1 status
    2. Asylee
    3. Refugee
    4. Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
    5. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
    6. Individuals paroled into the United States whose parole has not expired
    7. Persons residing in the U.S. pursuant to an Order of Supervision
    8. Persons granted a stay of deportation/removal
    9. Persons granted an indefinite voluntary departure
    10. Persons on whose behalf an immediate relative petition has been approved
    11. Persons who have filed an application for adjustment of status to permanent resident
    12. Persons granted Deferred Action Status
    13. Persons who entered and have continuous residency in the U.S. before 01/01/1972
    14. Persons granted suspension of deportation or cancellation of removal
    15. Cuban/Haitian entrants
    16. Persons with a pending application for asylum, withholding of removal or deportation, protection under the Convention Against Torture (CAT), cancellation of removal, or TPS
    17. Persons in T or U non-immigrant status
    18. Self-petitioner under the Violence Against Women Act
    19. Other persons living in the U.S. who are not unlawfully present.
    If you are eligible: Please follow the instructions:
    1. You must meet with your academic advisor in your program to confirm that you are eligible to submit this application and to help create a back-up plan for your educational endeavors.
    2. Complete the Application for Acceptance to Clinical Nursing.

    3.  Complete your registration for the ATI TEAS exam. Please note that you cannot choose a test date until the exam dates are posted. Dates become available on the ATI website about 4-6 weeks before the exam. Check the ATI website frequently.

    ACCEPTANCE/DENIAL LETTERS WILL BE SENT VIA YOUR KCC COLLEGE EMAIL.

    1. Go to www.atitesting.com Create an account and be sure to list Kingborough Community College as your institution.

    2.  After you have logged in, follow the instructions to register for the TEAS at ATI.

    3. Please look for the prompt button that sends your scores to Kingsborough Community College at the end of your exam before exiting the ATI site.
      ALL APPLICATIONS WITHOUT ACCOMPANYING TEAS SCORES WILL BE DEEMED INCOMPLETE.

    In order to take the exam virtually you will need:

      1. LAPTOP OR DESKTOP COMPUTER (NO PHONE, TABLET OR IPAD)
      2. Microphone (any microphone, either internal or external)
      3. Webcam: (any internal or external)
      4. Google Chrome installed on your device
