Computer Science
Computers are used in every field of human endeavor in the modern world. From the smartphone to the desktop to the internet-connected device to the supercomputers used for CGI-films and for weather-forecasting, the science behind all these technologies has never been more relevant than it is today.
Computer scientists design and analyze algorithms to solve problems and study the performance of computer hardware and software. The problems that computer scientists encounter range from the theoretical, determining what problems can be solved with computers; to the tangible, writing programs that lead to cutting-edge solutions to real-world problems.
The Computer Science major at Kingsborough provides the student with a solid foundation of valuable knowledge including the fundamentals of Computer Systems, Computer Programming, and Computer Science. Students learn to read and write computer code, to fix and improve existing code, to understand why and how code works on a computer, and to work as part of a team and community in crafting solutions.
