Dear Students,
Welcome to Fall 2024! You may have seen an email from CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez on August 28 welcoming you to the Fall 2024 semester.
We want to amplify some important information shared in the Chancellor’s email:
  • Kingsborough has updated The Student Handbook regarding rules and guidelines for time, place, and manner for Group Expressive Activities, such as rallies, demonstrations and protests. In addition, the Registered Student Organizations Manual has been updated with rules and guidelines for student clubs, student leaders and those faculty and staff members who advise student clubs.
  • Kingsborough is dedicated to upholding students’ First Amendment right to freedom of speech. It is important to know what forms of free speech are protected and which are not. Here’s a brief introduction to free speech.

  • The Henderson Rules are our official community standards for maintaining public order on campus. These rules guide how to express your opinions as a member of the college community, while helping to maintain an environment of mutual respect, civility, and safety that does not infringe upon your academic freedom or that of anyone else in the College.
  • Kingsborough is committed to a diverse and inclusive community. We have zero tolerance for discrimination and misconduct of any kind. If you have experienced or witnessed an incident of discrimination or retaliation, please report it through the University-Wide Discrimination and Retaliation Reporting Portal so that it may be investigated.
The beginning of the new academic year can evoke both excitement and anxiety. If you need support of any kind as you adjust to campus life, our Student Wellness Services are available to you.
KCC is a rich and diverse community. Although we may hold different views, we all share the same core values and are committed to creating a campus where students, faculty, and staff feel safe, welcome, and free to pursue their studies and work.
Don’t hesitate to contact the Office of Student Affairs at 718-368-5570 if you have any questions. We wish you a successful academic year.
Sincerely,
