Message to the Campus
Strategic Plan update and request for volunteers
October 23, 2024
Dear KCC Faculty and Staff,
I am writing with an update on our 2025-2030 strategic plan development process. In
response to feedback we received as part of the first round of comments and our initial
meeting of the College Council Strategic Planning and Budget committee, we have added
three members to the Executive Leadership group. Here is a link to the updated Strategic Plan web page, which lists the group members.
The group met on October 17 and identified five overarching goals for the plan. They
are, as follows:
-
-
Eliminate race/ethnic achievement gaps
-
Support students in achieving successful workforce outcomes
-
Prepare students for successful transfer to a four-year institution
-
Improve student retention and timely graduation
-
Support high-quality academic programs
-
Our next step is to recruit volunteers for a committee to elaborate on each of the
goals – a short survey is available on the web page to let the Executive Leadership
group know which committees interest you and how you see yourself contributing. These
committees are open to all current KCC faculty and staff.
I hope you will volunteer to serve on a committee as part of your service to the college.
However, we are looking for each committee to have 10 members at most, with a range
of backgrounds and perspectives represented. Please do not be discouraged if you volunteer
and we do not ask you to serve; there will be other opportunities for you to comment
on the draft goals and overall plan.
The deadline for submitting surveys to volunteer is Tuesday, October 29. Committee members and chairs will be selected by November 2. We expect to charge
the committees before November 22, and for them to meet on a regular basis through
mid-February. Draft initiatives for each goal will be due January 12, with feedback
given by January 20. Draft metrics for each initiative will be due February 10.
Please check the Strategic Plan web page for the survey to volunteer. On behalf of the Executive Leadership team, thank you
in advance for participating in this important process, both through volunteering,
and by providing feedback on the draft plan when it is published in March.
Regards,
Suri Duitch
