New Full-Time Staff 2024

Tamera Gray

Tamera Gray

Academic Program Specialist | College Now

Tamera Gray joined Kingsborough Community College’s Collaborative Programs team as an academic program specialist in August 2024. Originally from Sacramento, she relocated here for this position after spending the previous 10 years in San Francisco. "I always wanted to come to New York because it's so unique," she said. "I was drawn to the diversity and opportunity it has to offer and to the location. I wanted to live in Brooklyn!”

Tamera will serve as College Now's marketing and communications liaison as well as oversee its weekend and online programs for high school students.

She moved into working in higher education after noticing a disconnect between high school and college students while working at a K-12 after-school program. "I wanted to help bridge that gap, to make the transition easier for students," she explained.

Tamera earned a bachelor's degree in communication and media studies from San Francisco State University, where she then worked in admissions and advisement. She has also worked in admissions at Sacramento State University, and, most recently, she was the program manager for the Doctor of Medical & Health Sciences Programs at the University of the Pacific. After many years working in four-year colleges, she wanted to be a part of the community college experience and get connected with first-time freshman and high school students.

Outside of work, you can find her reading—she loves books—and helping family and friends design their homes and apartments. (She’d originally wanted to be an interior architect.)

"I'm looking forward to working with the College Now staff," she said. "They are an amazing group."
