MY TURN PROGRAM
MAKE YOUR TIME UPLIFTING RIGHT NOW
MISSION STATEMENT
My Turn Program at Kingsborough Community College provides older adults the opportunity
to fulfill their academic and recreational goals and aspirations by inviting seniors
60 and older to join the campus community an audit elect courses tuition-free. My
Turn underscores the necessity for seniors to maintain an active and productive lifestyle,
promotes well-being, high self-esteem, independence among older adults, and provides
a cultural and intergenerational experience for the entire campus community.
The My Turn program is offered to NYS residents 60+ years of age to audit college
classes.
There is a registration fee of $80 which includes two semesters: fall and winter or
spring and summer. NY State residents 60 years of age or older are qualified to attend
classes as auditing students.
Changes to the My Turn Program
As of Fall 2020, new My Turn students will only be allowed to audit courses and not
receive any credits. If new students are interested in matriculating, they will be
able to apply for financial aid but will no longer be a part of the My Turn Program.
Current matriculated My Turn students will be part of a select cohort of matriculated students who will continue to have their tuition and fees waived and receive credits for the courses you are enrolled in through 2024.
Starting in 2024, all My Turn students will only be allowed to audit KCC courses and not receive any credits.
Our students are diverse in culture and career backgrounds. You never know who you will meet. Our students come from different professions from retired doctors, lawyers, teachers, principals, etc. However, it is not a requirement of our program to have a high school diploma or college degree.
We also have a My Turn Club with an executive board that consist of a President, Vice President, Treasurer and Recording Secretary. The My Turn Club provides the social component to the program while the school provides the academics.
Our students love to take art, music, history, computer, health education, and gym and literature courses. My Turn students attend classes with the traditional students. Once you become a My Turn student you will have access to the library, gym, pool, tennis court and private beach.
Please keep in mind the traditional students are priority. Traditional students register first after which the My Turn students register for classes that have available seats.
