Biography

Athena Rebecca Axiomakaros is an adjunct art history professor at the City University of New York at Kingsborough Community College. She began her career at CUNY in 2023 and has been a professor at the State University of New York Nassau Community College since 2012. She attended the City University of New York at Brooklyn College and the City University of New York at The Graduate Center where she studied Art History before continuing on to The Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts where she is currently a Ph.D. candidate. At CUNY, her focus was on the Italian Renaissance, and at IDSVA, she is currently concentrating on embodied ontology. She has published the article “A Review of Franz Kafka’s The Castle in Light of 20th Century Resistance”, lectured at the Multidisciplinary Course Colloquium at Nassau Community College, New York where she presented her work “Picasso’s Masks”, and spoke at the Community College Humanities Association’s regional conferences on subjects including “Popular Film as a Bridge in the Arts for Understanding Pre-existing Structures” and “The Digital Revolution: Re-thinking Content Delivery in a Classroom Setting”. She has also been a panel moderator for the Community College Humanities Association conferences.
