This faculty interest group will be reading Diversity and Motivation: Culturally Responsive Teaching in College by Dr. Margery Ginsberg & Dr. RJ Wlodkowski (2009), which responds to the question How can post-secondary instructors more consistently support student motivation across diverse student groups? (p. VII). To achieve this the authors provide a motivational framework that: 1) respects diversity; 2) engages the motivation of a broad range of students; 3) creates a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment; 4) derives teaching practices from across disciplines and cultures; and 5) promotes equitable learning.  In this FIG, facilitated by Jason Leggett (History, Philosophy, and Political Science), participants will read and discuss the book and consider how this framework applies to our classrooms here at Kingsborough.
