Strategies for Success with ESL Students Across the Curriculum

Most all of us at Kingsborough have students in our classes who hail from foreign countries, or who speak languages other than English at home. These learners can enrich our classrooms with their diverse backgrounds, and can also raise questions about how and what we teach. This group will be an exploratory forum focused on working with students across the curriculum whose first language is not English. Innovative pedagogies and practices will be discussed and deliberated over; expected topics will include: responding to first language interference in student writing, strategies for increased student participation, and the psychology of the multilingual classroom.
