DOROT

This internship provides students with an understanding of the issue and impact of social isolation among older adults as well as DOROT’s response. Each intern receives substantive work and project management experience. While the work done by interns varies by department we are committed to entrusting interns with significant responsibility and providing them with an opportunity to contribute to their department in a real and impactful way. At minimum, each intern will be assigned one DOROT older adult who they will connect with weekly, either by phone, Zoom or in-person to foster continued connections across the generations.

America Needs You (ANY) is a career development and mentoring program where students participate in bi-weekly career workshops that allow Fellows to develop relationships with over 200 highly accomplished Mentor-Coaches and engage with community and business leaders. The three primary components of the curriculum are: Life Planning, Career Development, and Community Leadership Projects. Students who participate in this program receive a $2,000 stipend.

The Melissa Riggio Higher Education Program is a team of dedicated professionals focused on providing individuals with meaningful college experience, relationships and life. Currently, we are establishing a team of devoted college student mentors to provide support to students with intellectual disabilities. College Mentors will provide academic, internship, community and social supports to students enrolled in Melissa Riggio Higher Education Program.

Mentors are thoroughly trained and supervised by our program coordinator and are involved in a variety of activities with our students.
