Updates regarding KCC senior staff

March 3, 2026

Dear Kingsborough faculty and staff,

I hope that each of you is having a great start to the spring 2026 term - the green buds I see poking out of the ground are a reminder of what a great time spring is to be on our beautiful campus.

I write with important senior personnel updates.

Andres Escobar, who has served as Vice President for Finance and Administration since April 2024, has become permanent in the position, as has Deon Bergeron, who is now permanently appointed as Vice President for Enrollment Management. Congratulations to each of them!

We have been joined by Natasha Edwards as Dean of Student Affairs. Dr. Edwards was most recently Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students at St. Francis College. Thanks to Althea Maduramente for serving in this position on an interim basis.

Aaron Charlop-Powers, joining KCC from a Senior Advisor role at City Hall working on Housing, Economic Development and Workforce policy, will be our Vice President for Strategy and Chief of Staff starting on March 16th. Aaron's portfolio will include the critical work of working with the KCC community to finalize the new strategic plan and support its implementation. Nadine Browne, who ably and effectively served as Chief of Staff during my first two years as president, will move over to support Academic Advisement, where our staff and students will benefit from her extensive experience with student success initiatives.

Many of you have already met Sheila Thimba, who started as Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance in January and has already had a significant positive impact on our structure and processes in financial and operational management.

As always, these appointments are subject to the approval of the CUNY Board of Trustees.

I'm excited about the excellent team we now have in place and am grateful to those of you who served on the search committees and participated in interviews.

Our collective work in this next period of time will shape the future of Kingsborough for years to come. I wish you a great start to the new term and very much look forward to working with each of you in this endeavor.

Regards,

Suri Duitch
President
