Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program Description

 

The Biology Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) is funded by the New York State Education Department, and is designed to:

Increase the number of economically disadvantaged students and others who are pursuing professional licensure and careers in mathematics, science, technology and health-related fields.

Eligibility

  • Must be a New York State resident
  • Must be economically disadvantaged, and/or
  •  In need of, or would greatly benefit from, academic enrichment or support in the STEM areas (to be determined locally)
  •  Enrolled full time (12 hours or more per semester)
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (exceptions are made on conditional basis)

  • Participate in a Faculty Mentored Research Project if eligible
  • Prepare and present posters of their research at conferences
  • Visit Bio classes at KCC to recruit future students for the CSTEP Program

Students meet with academic advisors and receive personalized academic support, including educational pathways, course selection, and tutoring.

The program works intimately with Center for Career Development & Experiential learning to guide students on future career options and prepare them in the workforce.

Fill out the mandatory application form.

All completed application forms can be submitted by:

OR

Submit in-person to S-218 of the Science (S) Building.

Eligible candidates will meet with program director.

Interested candidates will be assigned research mentors based on availability.
